Glossarium Græco-Arabicum
The database Glossarium Græco-Arabicum makes available the files of a lexical project, intended to open up the lexicon of the mediæval Arabic translations from the Greek. It contains images of the filecards (ca. 80,000) which have not yet been published in the analytical reference dictionary A Greek and Arabic Lexicon (Leiden: Brill, 1992ff.), and comprises Arabic roots from the letter jîm to the end of the Arabic alphabet. read more ...

Glossarium Græco-Arabicum is a project of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Seminar für Orientalistik und Islamwissenschaft (since 2024: Institut für Arabistik und Islamwissenschaft). From 1994 to 2006, it was supported by the German Research Foundation ( Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft ). From 2010 to 2015, it formed a research unit of the project "Greek into Arabic - Philosophical Concepts and Linguistic Bridges" , funded by the European Research Council , and directed by Cristina D'Ancona (University of Pisa), and in cooperation with the Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale of the Italian CNR . The Glossarium Graeco-Arabicum database is the result of collaboration between Gerhard Endreß , Rüdiger Arnzen common.and Yury Arzhanov on the one side and the TELOTA team of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) on the other. In 2025, the TELOTA team carried out a comprehensive technical update of the database funded by the NFDI Consortium Text+.
